Mothers Day 2015

Mother's day was this past Sunday. My father took my daughter to the store and I gave her $3 so she could pick out a present for me. She got me a beautiful box and some gorgeous glittery pink eye shadow. She made me a few crafts that she put inside. It was very sweet. I think from now on I will keep gifts inside that my children have made for me. It will be a nice keepsake box to have on my dresser.

At 1 pm my children and I met my parents and my sister and her children at a pizza shop. Then we headed across the street so the kids could spend time playing at Chuck E Cheese. Afterwards my kids and I went and got groceries.
The last thing we did before coming home was stopped at Sweet Frog and for mothers day I got to pick out a free frozen yogurt. I let my son choose the flavor and toppings and let him have it. I also received a text from Hoopla that for mothers day I could get a free frozen yogurt as well so we went there and my daughter got to pick that one out.

I didn't mind not getting to eat any. I figured I might as well let them have something special since my day wouldn't have been special at all if it wasn't for them.

My son's First grade class trip

Yesterday was my son's first grade class trip. My son wouldn't go on the class trip without me he was to scared so thankfully there was space available and I was approved to be a chaperon. I had my son in my group, my friends son, and two sweet little girls. I had such a great group of kids. The boys are really good friends and are so funny together. I took lots of photos and the boys made really silly faces in pretty much all of them.
The first part of the field trip was a Junie B. Jones play. My sister had gone years ago with her children and said how boring and awful the play was so I was really dreading going. I don't know if it was the exact same production or not but I liked it. It was really funny and the props were amazing. This is a photo of the stage before the actors came on and the notebook was opened.

The second part of the field trip was the best part. A visit to Chuck E. Cheese's. Each kid got 16 tokens and a drink and two slices of pizza. The girl working the prize counter was so nice kids who got 100 tickets were allowed to pick off the shelf of prizes valued at 500 tickets. My son got really lucky and although he only had 160 tickets he got a toy dart gun off the shelf with prizes valued at 1000 tickets.

It was fun day and all the kids were happy and tired out on the ride back to school. I am so glad I was able to go on this class trip.

Got all my shopping done for my daughters birthday

Yesterday while my children were in school I went shopping for the last of the gifts I wanted to buy my daughter for her upcoming birthday. Most of the items I was able to buy online which I love as it was a lot more convenient and I got some really great deals.
The presents I think she will like the most are a group of 6 blank hardcover books for her to write stories in. I bought them on amazon. She wanted these really badly.
The present that I think is the most unique and I look forward to giving her are three plants. A blueberry plant and two different raspberry plants. I am pretty bad at growing things but these look simple enough. I bought these at Walmart.
Her birthday is May 21. I cannot wait to see how she likes her gifts. The only thing I forgot to put into the photo is SweetTarts Ropes candy.

I didn't get much done today but enjoyed seeing friends

I had planned to get a lot done today things didn't work out that way. As soon as I got the kids off to school I cleaned the bathroom and did the dishes.
At 9:30 am I had a get together at my house "The Breakfast Club". I shared some gross Pillsbury heart shaped sugar cookies. My sister came as well as three friends and three kids. My mother stopped by as well for about 5 minutes. After everyone left I went into the living room and was overwhelmed at the mess the kids had made. There only part that really bothered me was games taken down now missing pieces :(
For the rest of the summer we will be doing the get togethers at a local park since the weather has finally gotten nice. When my son came home from school I told him what a mess the little ones had made of the house. He went to look and I told him I had cleaned almost all of it up. He walked into the living room and I heard him say "Omg I could faint" lol Imagine if he had seen all his toys thrown everywhere before I had picked most all of them up. I posted a picture of how it looked when he saw what was left of the mess.
I had to run to the library to drop off a movie that I had borrowed two weeks ago and still hadn't watched. I met a girl while I was in town who bought a dress off me for $3 that had been my daughters.
I had every intention of mowing the lawn and weed whacking as it is about a foot tall now but come to find out my father couldn't get the push mowers to work. He wasn't home so I couldn't ask where the long extension cords were to do the weed whacking either. I was pretty bummed at this point. I had looked forward to having a nice looking yard again as well as getting some exercise while mowing.
A friend had posted online a recipe that she enjoyed of a healthy smoothie. I tried it out but I don't care for raspberries so it wasn't my cup of tea. I'm going to try altering it tomorrow with blueberries or orange juice.
For the past few months every 3rd Friday of the month a local church has been doing a kids night out. I hadn't heard anything so when the kids got out of school we drove out there to see what the sign said. There was nothing on the sign so must be they aren't doing it this month. Maybe not anymore at all.
After dinner I did another stinking load of dishes and right before bed my daughter realized that the charger to her tablet wasn't working. It had been left on the floor and the metal piece got run over with the computer chair which bent it. Thankfully it still worked... until tonight. I am hoping that I can find a replacement one for her at walmart tomorrow.

Went to a carnival themed birthday party on Saturday

Saturday a friend of mine had a birthday party for her three children. All of her children have birthdays in the winter months so they decided to throw them a summer bash. Our boys are a few months apart and go to school together.
The birthday party was a carnival theme . Anything this woman does you can guarantee will be awesome. She is talented on so many levels! They had a big bounce house they rented as well as a bunch of games like plinko. They had lots of kids toys already in the yard like a trampoline. They also rented a horse to take the kids for rides. My daughter went on it three times. My son pretty much stayed in the trampoline for the majority of the party.

The food was delicious and the cake was amazing. She didn't make the cake but she picked someone who made the best fondant cake I have seen yet! This is a picture of the cake but it was taken with my cell phone so it isn't very good quality.

I don't let my kids have red dye and that's what was in the cake so although I was dying to try a piece I didn't eat any so they wouldn't feel left out.

Went geocaching at Merli Sarnoski Park

Sunday my brother in law was supposed to go with my kids and I geocaching to a waterfall. Unfortunately he had to work and at 2:30 I asked if he wanted us to just go without him. He said for us to go ahead because he was still working. The kids were kind of bummed. I wasn't sure if my cell service would work well enough in that area and since we didn't have my brother in laws gps I decided to take my kids to a park instead and to see if there were any easy geocaches we could do.
We went to Merli-Sarnoski Park . It has a nice playground, a man made beach, lots of hiking trails and fishing areas.

The beach wasn't open for swimming yet but everyone was in the water anyway. My son didn't go in the water but my daughter had fun even though the water was really cold.
The first thing we did when we got there though was start on the trails looking for geocaches . We tried to find two but they were really tough and were micro sized.

My daughter fell off a log while trying to look in a tree at the first cache and hurt her back. She wanted to give up at that point.

When I get a gps that you can type in coordinates we will go back and do the trails. We will make a day of it playing on the beach, having a picnic and finding geocaches. I have been trying to buy a gps off walmarts website but the checkout will not work. I've tried for three days and finally I emailed them about the issue.

Bad Luck Wednesday

Thankfully my kids and I have gotten to do a lot this summer and have a great time! Even more so now that my van has broke down and we can't go anywhere for awhile.
We were driving about 45 minutes to go pick up my new straight talk phone I ordered and had delivered to Walmart. When we stopped at stop signs and were parked I noticed the van had a terrible smell to it. I thought I was out of oil. Later that night I checked and found that I wasn't out of oil so I knew I had better get it in to a garage to be looked at.
I dropped it off at the garage Wednesday morning figuring it would be a fairly simply fix and told him it also needed an oil change. He called me a few hours later and gave me some very bad news.
The frame in the front is so bent and everything is so rusted that the water pump is just hanging there. Also the water pump was leaking so the burning antifreeze was what I was smelling. He said it could all be fixed about $1000 for the repairs but the underside is so rusted out that its just not going to be worth fixing. So now I have to look for another vehicle :( I bought it in September of 2013 for $2700 so I got my moneys worth out of it as I really haven't had to do many repairs on it.
My sister dropped me off at the garage to pick up my van to take home. My 7 year old went to her house to play with her 3 year old on the trampoline for awhile. They went inside to play and were jumping around and my son fell and hit the back of his head on the floor. There is carpet but it's old and the floor isn't very soft. My sister said he didn't hit his head hard and I believe her. I brought him home and he sat on my lap crying. He kept asking where his sister was, where he got a certain toy, why he went to my sisters house. I kept answering him and he kept asking the same questions over and over and not being able to remember anything.
I was nervous so I took him to the ER just to be safe. They did a cat-scan and everything looked good. The doctor thought he could have a mild concussion though. Luckily he seemed to improve in no time.
When my son was a baby he had a flat head. My daughter never had that when she was a baby and I did everything the same. Some children's bones in there head stay soft longer. I can't remember what it's called. The spot never completely rounded out it still has a little bit of flatness in the back. Where he fell he hit that spot. I'm thinking the spot isn't as strong there as it should be for a child his age which may be why he got a mild concussion so easily.
